Hello!

My name is Rebecca Halliday. I am a certified teacher here in New Brunswick, Canada. I have spent the last 11 years running my own independent school with a focus on literacy, math and healthy development of the child! I also have been running an after-school reading academy for the last 15 years. I have always been passionate about literacy intervention and helping struggling readers. I have learned so much from running my school and the many kids that have graced my classroom. These kids have taught me what it takes to be an effective educator, they are my greatest teachers. I dove into the science of reading and structured literacy about 5 years ago, and my reading instruction was transformed!

I use a multi-sensory, Orton-Gillingham-based approach. In my day school, we root all reading instruction in the Science of Reading and a structured literacy approach However, we are REBELS, we are going to do whatever it takes to make learning meaningful and relatable and engaging! We are going to rebel against what you've been told about your child and their abilities, REBEL against what THEY believe about themselves and make reading come to LIFE. We also are going to REBEL against the idea that phonics is boring. I also want to spread the word that learning to read is so much more than just phonics. With my approach, their dedication & &hard work, your love and support - they WILL reach their potential and become a reader.
